Blog post for Beach London on Juliano-Villani's Solo Show

Hailing from New Jersey, Juliano-Villani uses everyday objects and familiar environments to depict moral dilemmas and personal visions. Her paintings reference both the old and the new – and are composed in forms of collage masochistically. The viewer may experience some sort of anxiety when seeing these images that are simultaneously surreal and prosaic.

Our favourite is My Memories Projected in the Hallways of the Titanic – really lovin’ the dynamic LaCie hard drive and the friendly ghost. There might be a little blend of Dalí too?

It was nice to have a spin on the modified 1955 J-L Seeburg jukebox, as it filled the room with a calming nostalgic sensation.
